This lecture reviews the advantages, limitations, and commercialization trends of sodium-ion batteries, focusing on the characteristics and technical challenges of cathode, anode, and electrolyte materials. Presodiation strategies for compensating for the initial sodium loss in hard carbon and the future potential of sodium-based electrochemical systems, including seawater batteries, will also be discussed.
